Welcome to Second Grade!
Dear Parents,
For those I havent met yet, Id like to say hello and tell you a bit about myself. I moved to Arizona in 2003 from Kansas City, KS where I was born and raised. Leaving my family was a difficult choice to make, but I was ready for a change.
I graduated from Pittsburg State University (in Kansas) in 1998 receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology. Since graduating I have earned full endorsements in early childhood education and ESL education as well as beginning work on a Masters Degree in English Immersion Studies.
After graduating from college I spent my first two years in the classroom teaching 1st grade and the last several years teaching 2nd grade! This is my 13th year teaching in the primary grades! I joined the Cherokee team in 2006 and I fell in love with the staff and community.
I am incredibly excited to be your childs teacher. I am looking forward to getting to know all about your son or daughter and getting to know you as well. It is my goal to provide your student with the best education possible. I strive to create meaningful lessons that not only keep students engaged and challenged but also keep learning fun! Instruction will be differentiated so that all students have the opportunity to learn at the level best suited to their needs.
I want to provide each child with a safe and secure learning environment. If your child has any allergies, hearing difficulty or vision problems, please let me know via school e-mail before school starts. If you could also let me know how your second grader will be going home from school the first day I would greatly appreciate it!
If you ever have any questions or concerns please call me at Cherokee phone ext. 5112 or e-mail me at shobson@susd.org. Through communication and support we will have an amazing journey through second grade.
Many thanks,
Staci Hobson
